Meet Sarah

Hi! Welcome to my blog! My name is Sarah. I'm a busy mom to a beautiful 2 year old girl, Scarlett. I love to quilt and craft! I started this blog as an outlet for my craziness and as a record of what I'm working on and completing, since I'm notoriously bad at keeping track of that. I figure, if I have a blog, I'll definitely take pictures and record my crafting, instead of wishing that I had taken photographs. I'm really into a little bit of everything:quilting, papercrafting, scrapbooking, baking, refashions and furniture rehabs (though I haven't done that...yet!) I love trying new things, so don't be surprised to see the failures amid the successes.

If you'd like to know a little bit more about me, read on...

My boyfriend, Ralphie and I have been together since September 2007. We have a gorgeous daughter, Scarlett, who was born in July 2008. Scarlett was born with a heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot. She's had a couple of surgeries and is looking at a couple more. If you'd like to read more about Scarlett, you can visit her blog here.

Ralphie is the best guy ever! He works so hard to take care of me and the Princess and I couldn't ask for a better partner in life. I'll marry him someday.

Scarlett and I live near St. Louis, where I rent from my parents. We had to move down here just before Scarlett's first surgery and with the economy in the state it's in, it's been difficult for us to get our own place. Ralphie moved upstate a few weeks ago, where he's trying to get a better job and a place for us. Even with him away now, it's totally crowded at our house, lol. I jokingly refer to home as 'The Zoo'. There are 3 adults, 2 teenagers, a toddler, a duck, 3 cockatiels, 2 dogs and a cat. My creative refuge is a corner of the living room. I try to keep it contained and organized, but that doesn't always happen, as I'm sure many of you can relate to!

I'm what most people would call  unconventional. I consider myself spiritual, rather than religious. I love tattoos (and have many, but they are hidden).  I love music and going to concerts. That's an understatement! Music is a big deal for me. I love to sing (mostly in the shower) and I love to listen to all kinds of music. Except country, sorry. I listen to nearly all varieties of rock but also to a lot 'crazy music' (for example:MSI, the Dresden Dolls, Amanda Palmer). I'm even known to listen to a little bit of pop and rap every now and then, thanks to my sister.

I am currently actively seeking employment outside the home. I just started my business, Sew Very Happy Quilts. I make memory quilts using your old t-shirts and I can also incorporate photos into the quilts. In addition to the memory quilts, I sometimes take custom orders for more traditional quilts. I also sell assorted handmade items. My etsy shop is coming soon. I really love to quilt and I was recently able to purchase a quilting machine on an awesome frame, so if you need a memory quilt, my prices are reasonable! Ask about current specials!

That's probably more than you even wanted to know, lol! I hope you enjoy my little corner of the internet here. Thanks for stopping by!
