Sharing is Caring

Thank you all for being patient with me this past week. There have been some big changes at home and things were looking down, but everything seems to be going in a much better direction now. Also, I've been busy preparing for my trip to Florida. It's only a week away, woohoo! Anyhow, here are this week's Hoo Are You? and Knowing Me, Knowing You.

NightOwlCrafting

Here are this week's questions!
1. Do you pay your bills online or through snail mail?
I pay my bills both ways. I prefer to pay online, though.

2. How many email accounts do you have?
I have 3. I have my personal one and one for this blog, plus one that I'm slowly phasing out.

3. Do you use XM/Sirius, radio, ipod, CD, or etc.. in your vehicle?
I mostly listen to the radio in the car, especially now that Scarlett is such a copycat. I forgot about some lyrics in a song the other day and she started singing the obscenity...it was not good. If she's not in the car, I will break out a CD or hook in the music player on my phone.

4.  What shows are sparking your interest on TV right now?
This could be embarassing... These are the shows that I watch faithfully every week, in no particular order: Cougar Town, Gray's Anatomy, Pretty Little Liars (I know!), Glee, Raising Hope (again, I know!), Headbanger's Ball and Modern Family.

5. Name 3 things that you think of when you hear the word "GREEN"!
Kermit the Frog, spinach and Florida/warm weather

your favorite color?
It's a tie between black and pink.

high heels or flats?
Flats for everyday, heels for nights out.

your favorite dessert?
Either homemade apple pie or pineapple upside down cake.

your typical day-to-day get-up/outfit?
I wear whatever is mostly clean...usually a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.

your wardrobe basics?
Blue Jeans, skinny jeans, t-shirts, tunics and leggings. Bandanas for bad hair days/days I stay in.

your accessories must-have?
I have a pentagram necklace that I always wear, but that's it.

Head on over and link up with me!

Hoo Are You? and Knowing Me, Knowing You

NightOwlCrafting

As usual, head on over to Night Owl Crafting to link up your answers to this week's questions!

1. Where do you usually have your thermostat set at in the winter?
I have very little control over the thermostat, but it's usually set around 65. The house is built in an odd sort of way, so we have to use a space heater in the living room. It's always too cool to go without a sweater and socks. (I'll have to give you a tour if it's ever once it's clean.)

2. What room do you tend to put off cleaning until last?
Definitely my room. Scarlett still can't climb out of her crib, so we haven't moved the toddler bed in yet (It's in my parents' room, so she can have sleepovers). It's hard for me to do any cleaning when Scarlett is awake, since she wants to get into everything and I can't do it while she's sleeping or I'll wake her up. Vicious circle, right? On Mondays and Tuesdays, if I don't have anything else to do (like quilt or read), I try to pick up.

3. Do you like to clean with music on or off?
I crank the music up as loud is I can and sing at the top of my lungs. :)

4. When do you take time to blog?
I usually start my posts while Scarlett is napping, then I get to finish them after she goes to bed for the night.

5. How much time do you spend looking at other blogs a week?
Umm...way more than I should? At least an hour every day, usually more like 2 1/2...I have a lot of blogs in my reader and I'm always clicking links in posts. I also have a reader program on my phone, so I read them when I'm in lines or not driving in the car.

To Sew With Love just started a new blog hop called Knowing Me, Knowing You and I had to get in on this. I hope you guys will too, I'd love to read your answers!

What kind of music do you like?
I listen to a little bit of everything, but I especially love heavy metal. I know that may sound a little crazy to you guys, but there are few things I love to do more than crank up the screaming death metal and work on a quilt. lol.

Which place would you definitely like to visit?

I would love to visit Egypt some day, once everything is settled down. I'd also love to visit Mayan ruins and Greece. I still want to be an archaeologist when I grow up.

What is the greatest thing you have ever done, so far?

The greatest thing I have ever done is become a mother. Scarlett is so amazing, I'm so lucky to be her mom.

What are the three things that you cannot live without?

My smartphone (it has music and ebooks), my laptop with internet and my sewing machine. I love technology.

what song is stuck on your head right now?

It's a tie (and not even metal) between Map of Tasmania by Amanda Palmer and F*@# You by Cee Lo Green. They are totally inappropriate, but they make me smile and sing along.

what three things can always be found in your refrigerator?

I don't do the grocery shopping, but I can guarantee that there will be water, Scarlett's milk and leftovers.

What three things can always be found in your purse?

Lip Balm (from My Lip Stuff, it's seriously the best), my emergency phone recharger with batteries and a notepad with pen.

C'mon and link up guys, I can't wait to read your answers!

Hoo Are You?

Hello all! It's time for another week of

NightOwlCrafting
over at Night Owl Crafting

Here is this week's Hoo Are You?

1. What did you get/give for Valentine's Day?
I gave Scarlett a ton of butterfly stickers, a big monkey balloon and 2 coloring books. I received lots of hugs and kisses. I also made Ralphie a card.

2. Do you have a vacation planned in the next couple of months or in the summer?
I'm not sure that it counts as a vacation, but next month we are going to Florida for my brother's wedding and I plan to stay and visit for a few extra days.
3. What is one thing you do to pamper yourself?
Hmmm...I don't really pamper myself. When I was working outside the home I would get my nails done every 2 weeks. Now, the closest thing that comes to pampering is feeding my fabric habit and reading.

4. What sparks your interest to other people's blogs?
  Honesty and humor.
5. What kind of a mood are you in today?
I'm in a totally bleh mood. I think it's because I haven't been getting enough sleep lately. I'm feeling really mellow and unmotivated. I had a great day, though. The snow and ice are finally gone and melted enough that we were able to quilt this morning for the first time in 2 weeks. It was lovely! We started quilting a new quilt. It's purple and green and includes one of my favorite fabrics. :)

You guys should totally head over and link up! It's kind of fun. :)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm going to sneak away to read for a little while, or maybe play around with my new Make the Cut software for my little Cricut. Hmm...choices, choices.

Thanks for stopping by! I'll be back tomorrow with Words On Wednesday. It was going to be Wordless Wednesday, but I just can't seem to keep quiet lately...

Thanks for stopping by! Much love,

Hoo Are You?

It's Tuesday, so let's head over and have some fun with Night Owl Crafting.

NightOwlCrafting

Here are this week's questions:

1. Do you wear glasses or contacts, if so for how long?
I've worn glasses for 2 1/2 years. I'd like to try contacts, but the thought of sticking things in my eye kind of freaks me out.
2. What was your favorite board game as a kid?
I've always loved Scrabble. I love word games and I can't remember the last time someone beat me at it.
3. What is a word that you use all the time?
Seriously and really. I say them far too frequently and the people in my house pick on me over it.
4. What is your favorite day of the week?
I love Tuesdays. I have to get up early, but I go and quilt with a bunch of older ladies in a nearby town. I'm the youngest (by a lot of years) but they're so sweet and welcomed me into their group with open arms.
5. Did you graduate high school from the town you grew up in?
I don't know that I would consider it the town I grew up in, since we moved there while in middle school, but I only attended one high school and I graduated from it.
Those are my answers-what are yours?

Why I Blog and Hoo Are You

I started this blog to keep a record of my crafting and to have a place to record my thoughts. As a place where I can share the things that inspire me and hopefully, to make connections with people who love to craft and sew like I do. I'm amazed and grateful every day when I look over at my sidebar and see that there are people who follow this blog. I read through the entire blog over the weekend and realized that I haven't really been sharing the kind of things that I planned on sharing with you all. I haven't really been recording my thoughts here. That's going to change. I'm not sure what exactly I'll be sharing yet. Be prepared for potential info overload. :)

Here are the Hoo Are You questions for this week. Head over to Night Owl Crafting to link up and join in the fun!

1. Do you use an alarm clock or some device to wake you up, or do you wake up on your own?
I use my cell phone. There is an extraordinarily obnoxious alarm ringer for it. I also have to set it for 10 minutes before I need to get up, because I'm one of those people who has to hit the snooze button.
2. If you could go on any game show, which won would you choose?
My dream is to go on Jeopardy. Seriously, it's one of my goals. Nobody likes watching it with me because I yell out the answers before Alex even finishes reading the answers.
3. Do you prefer the weather to be hot or cold?
I don't like extreme temperatures of either kind. I really dislike cold though. I like it nice and warm, like in Florida. Florida, where a bunch of my family lives and I don't get to visit often enough... (Someone tell the rest of my family it's time to move, k?)
4.What color of clothing do you wear the most?
I've tried to introduce color into my wardrobe, since I like lots of colors very much, but I have to say black. Classic, simple black.
5. What is your favorite color?
My favorite color is a deep pink. I was sooo happy when I heard that Pantone named Honeysuckle the 2011 color of the year!

Those are my answers, now it's your turn! Head over and link up!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happiness and Hoo Are You?

I'm filled with happiness today! My almost sister-in-law gave birth to my new nephew this morning! This is their first child and my first time being an aunt. I'm thrilled. He was 6 lbs 8 oz and his name is Myles Patrick. How cute is this little face:

My younger brother, Danny with his son, Myles.

I love babies, so I had to share.

I worked out my schedule for the blog. It's not permanent-if there's something that can be added to make SVH a better place, then I'll definitely take the advice and make a change. Anyhow, here's what I put together:

Monday: Feeling Crafty (Could be something I made or a tutorial)
Tuesday: Mommy Moments  and Hoo Are You (linking with Night Owl Crafting)
Wednesday: Wordless Wednesday (linking with Wordless Wednesday)
Thursday: I don't have a name for it, but I want to feature a blog that I love on Thursdays.
Friday: I'll share my favorite crafts and bloggy finds of the week
Weekends: On the weekends, I'm not committing to blogging, but may post if I feel like it.

I'm open to suggestions and feedback, so please share! And now, on to my first edition of

NightOwlCrafting

Here are this week's questions!
(They all have to do with food)

1. Are you fond of cooking?
Not really. I'm kind of a dreadful cook. I'm a pretty good baker though, so I pretty much stick to that. It's a good thing that my man is a cook or we wouldn't eat very good. LOL.
2. What kind of food do you prefer eating when you are out?
If we have a babysitter, we eat at this really great Mexican place. If we don't, we head to a buffet. Scarlett's a pretty picky eater and at a buffet there is bound to be something that she will eat.
3. Which do you prefer, sweet or salty?
Sweet.
4. Where is the last place you ate out at?
El Maguey
5. What's for dinner tonight?
Today was one of Ralphie's nights off. We had pork roast, mashed golden potatoes and (everyone else ate) his signature Brussel sprouts. The pork and potatoes were awesome!
If you want to join in the fun, head over to Night Owl Crafting and link up!

Alright, I'm going to hop off for now, but I'm so glad you came! Oh, and please don't mind the blog renovations that I'll be working on over the next few days. I promise I'm almost done. (I think...)

Thank you so much for stopping by! I really appreciate your visit. (It's good to know that I'm not just talking to myself...)
